The CAPE Executive team would like to invite you and your colleagues to attend the 2023 CAPE Conference in Calgary, Alberta from June 20th-22nd, in partnership with Calgary Police Service and Bow Valley College.

We will have a number of outstanding speakers joining us in Calgary to discuss topics surrounding the theme of organizational wellness.

We are thrilled to announce that Chief of Police Keith Blake, of the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service will be kicking off the conference as our keynote speaker.

The CAPE hosts and executive are pleased to announce that on Monday June 19th 2023, the Calgary Police Service is offering a complimentary additional workshop for CAPE Conference delegates dealing with the important topic of Police Member Suicide.

Spots are extremely limited and available to delegates who complete a registration for the conference, on a first come, first served basis.

WHY ATTEND?

The CAPE Conference is a unique opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge with a diverse selection of peers and professionals in policing education.

The conference allows for an exchange of best teaching and training practices with partners across Canada.

The 2023 conference will also provide our delegates a firsthand view, through tours at Calgary Police and Bow Valley College, to expand the scope of their own understanding around current and important topics effecting the industry and how best to educate and train learners in those areas.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER - CHIEF OF POLICE KEITH BLAKE

Chief K Blake

CHIEF KEITH BLAKE is proud to lead alongside the sworn and non-sworn members of Tosguna, and to serve the beautiful community of Tsuut’ina Nation. Chief Blake believes in the importance of providing community centered policing, adapting to meet the cultural and socioeconomic needs of the Tsuut’ina Peoples and to address root causes of crime.
After serving 24 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Keith Blake was sworn in as the 5th Chief of Police of the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service on May 16th, 2013.
Keith has been privileged to have completed all of his service in the Province of Alberta and experienced firsthand the culture, pride and honour in being a part of the policing in seven different First Nations communities across Alberta.
Keith is currently a Vice-President of the First Nation Chiefs of Police Association, as well as a sitting member of the Assembly of First Nations policing taskforce for the co-development of the overdue and needed essential service legislation. He also Chairs the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Policing with Indigenous Peoples committee as well as being the Executive sponsor of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police Policing with Indigenous Peoples committee.
Chief Blake is invested in advocating for First Nations Policing, raising awareness, and supporting solutions related to the challenges and triumphs of Indigenous Policing across our Country, and he remains truly humbled to serve the visionary people of the Tsuut’ina Nation.

    • $650 (online registration EXTENDED until June 1st, 2023)
      This will include: breakfasts, lunches, snacks at breaks, bus to Calgary Police training facility and return, and a banquet dinner on Thursday June 22nd.
  • Accommodations: A group rate of $229 a night has been secured at Delta Hotels Calgary Downtown
    • The rate will be available until our block sells out, or until June 1st, 2023
